Tooth Truths: Caring for Your Pet’s Dental Health

A Leo Vets Exclusive Event
Thursday, February 26 | Doors 6:30 PM | Talk 7:00–8:00 PM | Q&A until 8:30 PM Waterford Community Centre, 53 W Church St, Waterford

Join us for our first client education evening of 2026, all about keeping your pet’s mouth healthy, comfortable, and pain free. Dental disease is one of the most common conditions we see in dogs and cats, and many pets live with ongoing discomfort while the disease quietly progresses, often without their families realizing anything is wrong. This session will help you understand what’s happening below the gumline, how we diagnose and treat dental disease, and what you can do at home to support lifelong oral health.

During this interactive session, we’ll explore three key areas:

Understanding Periodontal Disease
What dental disease actually is, how it progresses, and why it’s far more than “bad breath.” We’ll cover the stages of periodontal disease, breed predispositions, and the surprising ways oral health affects the rest of the body.

What Happens During a Veterinary Dental Procedure
A guided explanation of how veterinary dental procedures are performed, and what your pet’s experience will look like in our soon‑to‑open dental suite. We’ll walk through anesthesia, dental radiographs, scaling and polishing, extractions when needed, and how we keep pets safe, warm, and comfortable throughout the day.

Home Care & Prevention
From toothbrushing to dental diets, chews, water additives, and VOHC approved products, we’ll show you practical ways to support your pet’s oral health at home. You’ll be able to see and handle different tools and products, and our team will help you build a plan that fits your pet’s personality and your routine.

This evening is designed to be friendly, informative, and hands on — perfect for anyone who wants to better understand their pet’s dental health. Expect fun trivia questions, interesting facts, and the chance to enter for door prizes and dental‑themed giveaways. Space is limited, so register below to get on the list. Share with friends and family!
