Starting October 1st, 2025, Leo Vets Waterford is rolling out mobile veterinary care across Norfolk County and Brant County. While our full-service clinic is still under construction, our team is ready to bring high-quality care straight to your driveway — so your pet’s next exam can happen on schedule, in a familiar setting, and with less fuss.
Keep an Eye Out for Our Branded SUV
You can’t miss it! If you spot our fully wrapped Leo Vets SUV cruising through your neighbourhood, give us a wave, snap a photo, or flag us down if you have a quick question about Fear Free care or booking your pet’s next at-home visit. We love connecting with our community — even if it’s just a friendly hello from the sidewalk.
Is Mobile Vet Care Right for You?
Mobile veterinary services aren’t just a convenience — they can be a game-changer for pets and families. Whether your pet gets anxious in the car, you’re juggling a busy schedule, or you simply prefer the comfort of home, mobile care offers a flexible, compassionate alternative to traditional clinic visits.
Here are five reasons mobile care might be the perfect fit for your furry family member — and why it’s perfectly okay if you still prefer a brick-and-mortar clinic (coming early 2026!).
1. Reduced Anxiety
Many pets experience stress before they even reach the clinic — the car ride, the unfamiliar smells, and the uncertainty of a new space. With mobile care, exams happen in your pet’s safe space. Whether it’s their favourite blanket on the couch or a sunny spot in the backyard, being at home helps even nervous pets feel more relaxed and cooperative.
We’ve seen firsthand how a familiar environment can transform the experience. Cats who usually hide under chairs at the clinic will confidently stroll through their own living room. Dogs who tense at the weigh scale will wag their tails when greeted at their front door. These small shifts ripple outward, improving the experience for pets, their families, and the team that cares for them.
2. Place-Based Behaviour Consultations
Behaviour is shaped by environment — so we jump at the chance to assess it where it happens. Whether your dog barks at the window, your cat avoids the litterbox, or your puppy struggles with crate training, we observe routines and triggers in real time. That means we’re not guessing based on descriptions; we’re seeing the behaviour unfold in context.
This approach lets us design behaviour modification plans that are grounded in your pet’s actual environment. It’s practical, personalised, and often more effective than clinic-based coaching alone.
3. End-of-Life Comfort
Saying goodbye is one of the hardest moments of pet parenthood. Our in-home hospice, palliative care, and euthanasia services are designed to honour that moment with dignity, compassion, and peace.
At home, your pet can be surrounded by familiar sights, smells, and the people they love. There’s no rush, no fluorescent lights, no sterile exam room. Just quiet time together, in a space that feels safe. Families often tell us how much it meant to say goodbye in their own way, without the added stress of travel or unfamiliar surroundings.
After the visit, we walk you through aftercare options and can gently transport your pet for cremation if needed. You’ll find full details about our end-of-life services, including memorial options, on the Leo Vets website.
4. Extended, Unrushed Appointments
Clinic visits are often limited to 30 minutes, which can feel rushed — especially if you have multiple questions or a pet with complex needs. Our mobile appointments typically last an hour, giving us time to listen, observe, and dive deeper into topics like nutrition, chronic care, parasite prevention, or behaviour.
This slower pace isn’t just more comfortable — it leads to better outcomes. We get to know your pet’s personality, routines, and quirks, which helps us tailor care more precisely. And you get the time and space to ask questions without watching the clock.
5. Unparalleled Convenience
Life is busy. Between work, school, errands, and everything else, finding time for a vet visit can be tough. Mobile care removes barriers — no driving, no waiting room, no juggling multiple pets in carriers or leashes.
It’s especially helpful for families with limited transportation, mobility challenges, or pets who don’t travel well. And if you have more than one pet, mobile visits can be a smart, efficient way to get everyone seen in one go.
When Mobile Care Isn’t the Answer (And That’s Okay)
Mobile services are ideal for wellness exams, behaviour consults, and end-of-life care. We can perform routine blood and urine testing, administer vaccines, and manage chronic conditions — all from the comfort of your home.
That said, some situations require a clinic setting. Pets with ongoing vomiting or diarrhoea, trauma, seizures, or other urgent issues need round-the-clock care that only a hospital can provide. Surgeries, including spay/neuter and dental procedures, also require specialised equipment and monitoring that’s only available in a brick-and-mortar facility.
We’ll always help you decide what’s best for your pet — and refer you to the right care when mobile isn’t the right fit.
Is Mobile Vet Care More Expensive?
Not necessarily. Our product and service prices are the same whether offered in-home or in-clinic. For most mobile visits, there’s a $75 house call fee added to cover drive time and fuel. That fee is per household — so if you have multiple pets, mobile care can be a cost-effective option.
More importantly, mobile visits offer added value. You’re getting longer appointments, personalised attention, and care delivered in your pet’s natural environment. That leads to better outcomes, less stress, and a stronger relationship with your veterinary team.
